Dr. Merhi is the founder and the medical director of Rejuvenating Fertility Center (RFC). He is an internationally recognized fertility doctor, lecturer, editor, and grant reviewer. His training and faculty appointments included Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, and University of Vermont. He is currently a Professor at SUNY Downstate University. He has three American Board certifications in OB/GYN, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and High-Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD).
Dr Merhi is an active researcher with an interest in women with Low Ovarian Reserve (low AMH or high FSH), PRP ovarian rejuvenation, gentle stimulation IVF, natural IVF, and IVF without injectables. His research also focuses on technologies, such as Ozone Sauna, that could improve egg quality. Dr. Merhi is also experienced in treating overweight women and those who had weight loss surgery. He is a strong proponent of the LGBTQ community and has proudly served the Jewish Community for over a decade.
Dr Merhi was awarded Best OBGYN Doctor 2020 by New York magazine and received a Star Award from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He has published over 80 manuscripts and book chapters and he continues to present his research at national and international scientific conferences. He serves as a Chair, on several committees such as the ASRM, New England Fertility Society, Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI), and Endocrine Society.

Melvin H. Thornton
Director of Third Party Reproduction
Dr. Melvin H. Thornton, II is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in egg donation and surrogacy. He is double board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as well as Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Thornton received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, completed his internship and residency at the University of Southern California, and received additional training in advanced reproductive surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. He joined the faculty at Columbia University where he served as Medical Director and Director of the Egg Donation Program at the Center for Women’s Reproductive Care (CWRC).
Dr. Thornton has been helping families achieve their dreams of having children for over 20 years. Dr. Thornton has published more than 50 papers, written several book chapters, and presented over 100 abstracts at national conferences on topics related to infertility, third party reproduction, and women’s health. He has distinguished himself through his extensive research in the treatment of HIV sero-discordant couples and the relationship to infertility and fertility treatment.
He is an active member of the ACGME Clinical Competency Committee for Obstetric and Gynecology at Columbia and currently sits on the ASRM Education Committee. He is a Castle Connolly Regional Top Doctor, and was awarded the Top Doctors New York Metro Area Award in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Dr. Marco Mouanness
Dr. Marco graduated his medical degree with high distinction. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the American University of Beirut Medical Center after which he spent time in NYC mastering Gentle IVF under the supervision of Dr Merhi.
He received multiple awards for academic achievements and teaching and presented in several international conferences. He also published in multiple laparoscopic, urogynecological and obstetrical journals, and served as a reviewer for several medical journals.
His clinical research interests include but are not limited to treatments for patients with low ovarian reserve, ovarian rejuvenation, recurrent implantation failures, fertility preservation and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
He believes that individualized care is the key to the success of fertility treatments.
He is fluent in English, French and Arabic and can speak basic Spanish.
Dr Serin I. Seckin
Serin I. Seckin joined the RFC/SUNY Downstate University fellowship program in July 2020 as the first year fellow. She graduated with honors from Brown University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University where she graduated with a scholarly concentration in Translational Research. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Mount Sinai-West and St. Luke’s where she received multiple teaching awards and was elected chief resident. During her residency, she presented several poster and oral presentations at the annual American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists (AAGL).
Her clinical and research interests include: fertility preservation in cancer patients, ovarian aging, non-invasive preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and impact of endometriosis on fertility.
