Medical Director, CEO, Founder

Dr. Merhi is the founder and the medical director of Rejuvenating Fertility Center (RFC). He is an internationally recognized fertility doctor, lecturer, editor, and grant reviewer. His training and faculty appointments included Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, and University of Vermont. He is currently a Professor at SUNY Downstate University and Maimonides Medical Center, and the Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship program. He has three American Board certifications in OB/GYN, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and High-Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD).

Dr Merhi is an active researcher with an interest in women with Low Ovarian Reserve (low AMH or high FSH), ovarian rejuvenation, gentle stimulation IVF, natural IVF, and IVF without injectables. His research also focuses on technologies, such as Ozone Sauna, that could improve egg quality especially in women with endometriosis, immune disorders, and PCOS. Dr. Merhi is also experienced in treating overweight women and those who had weight loss surgery. He is a strong proponent of the LGBTQ community and has proudly served the Arabic and Jewish Communities for over two decades.

Dr Merhi was awarded TOP OBGYN Doctor 2019 and 2020, and TOP Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility specialist by New York magazine. He received twice a Star Award from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He has published over 90 manuscripts and book chapters and he continues to present his research at national and international scientific conferences. He serves as a Chair, on several committees such as the NIH, ASRM, New England Fertility Society, Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI), and Endocrine Society.

Dr. Mouanness is RFCʼs director of internal medical affairs and one of the founding members of Rejuvenating Fertility Center. He earned his medical degree from St Joseph University with high distinction. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the American University of Beirut Medical Center after which he spent time in U.S. mastering novel infertility treatments and specifically Gentle IVF. He currently serves as the main physician in the fully equipped CT location (monitoring site, embryology lab and operating room).

He received multiple awards for academic achievements and teaching and presented in several international conferences. He published in multiple laparoscopic, urogynecological and obstetrical journals, wrote book chapters about gynecological conditions, and served as a reviewer for several medical journals.

Dr Mouanness is a published author and expert on several fertility topics such as ovarian rejuvenation, PCOS, endometriosis, recurrent implantation failure, and impact of COVID-19 on fertility and pregnancy.

Multiple media outlets including “Healthline”, “Verywell Family”, “The Healthy”, “Popsugar”, “Giddy” and “Westport Lifestyle” have featured Dr Mouanness.


His clinical research interests include but are not limited to treatments for patients with low ovarian reserve, ovarian rejuvenation, recurrent implantation failures, fertility preservation and polycystic ovarian syndrome.



Dr. Latisha Moreta graduated from Cornell University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Mount Sinai West/Morningside. While in residency, she had several poster presentations accepted at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Group of North America, and Pelvic Floor Disorders Week sponsored by the American Urogynecologic Society. Dr. Moreta completed a Medical Genetics Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her clinical interests include effects of genetics on infertility, low ovarian reserve, fertility preservation, patient advocacy, and access to reproductive health care. She has advanced proficiency in Spanish.

Director of Third Party Reproduction

Dr. Melvin H. Thornton, II is recognized as one of the worldʼs leading experts in egg donation and surrogacy. He is double board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as well as Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Thornton received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, completed his internship and residency at the University of Southern California, and received additional training in advanced reproductive surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. He joined the faculty at Columbia University where he served as Medical Director and Director of the Egg Donation Program at the Center for Womenʼs Reproductive Care (CWRC).

Dr. Thornton has been helping families achieve their dreams of having children for over 20 years. Dr. Thornton has published more than 50 papers, written several book chapters, and presented over 100 abstracts at national conferences on topics related to infertility, third party reproduction, and womenʼs health. He has distinguished himself through his extensive research in the treatment of HIV sero-discordant couples and the relationship to infertility and fertility treatment.


He is an active member of the ACGME Clinical Competency Committee for Obstetric and Gynecology at Columbia and currently sits on the ASRM Education Committee. He is a Castle Connolly Regional Top Doctor, and was awarded the Top Doctors New York Metro Area Award in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
